Zandspruit Outreach Program |
We visit the Zandspruit Squatter camp once week to
meet with the mothers there who are unemployed and have |
no support. We try to give food parcels at least
once a month. We spend time ministering and encouraging
them
to improve their circumstances by educating
them and assisting wherever possible.
We not only get to know them |
but can also assess their capabilities. |
In February 2010 we
will be hosting a number of skills development workshops to help
these women empower |
themselves and
hopefully brighten up their future. |
We would like to
appeal to all who are interested in contributing to these
workshops to please contact Wanita. |
The idea is to keep
it as diverse as possible so that all types of skills can be
learnt with the hope that all the
women can find their
niche'. |
We currently
sponsor 21 mothers but and the number is growing daily. Sponsoring
these mothers is not for |
an indefinite period
and we make it very clear that this is a temporary aid. We do not
want these mothers to
become charity cases, we aim to
uplift and empower them. |
We are trying to
have an impact where true change is needed and will be experienced
and where it will be visible
to the new
generation in South Africa. |
We believe having a
shelter for these abandoned babies is not enough and we need to
penetrate the core issues |
in order to make a
difference. With education and support we are hoping that these
mothers will be empowered |
and in turn can empower
their children. |
